Our
restaurant is considered to be the first completely vegetarian
restaurant in the snow land of Tibet. Established by Mr. Tshering
Puntsok in 2005, this restaurant fills an important gap among
Tibetan restaurants, by offering vegetarian food for the first time
in the history of Tibet. Our restaurant is smoke-free, alcohol-free,
and meat-free. We serve uniquely delicious soy-based meat
substitutes that all are imported from inner China (and that taste
exactly like meat!). Our excellent professional cooks and waitresses
serve you in a quiet, clean comfortable and beautiful space. It is
like a refuge from the world.
The
history of vegetarianism can be traced back 2500 years. Today, it is
becoming more and more popular in many eastern and western
countries. It is a wonderful diet, in that it is both a diet of
humanitarian compassion, and at the same time is also a medically
proven way to cultivate your own health. Especially given our
present-day concerns about epidemics involving animal and bird
products, a vegetarian diet can help to avoid diseases such as bird
flu and mad cow disease. A vegetarian diet is also a suitable choice
for principled Tibetan Buddhists. It offers a way to express the
Buddhist teachings on compassion for all living things.
We
very much want to thank those tourists from all over the world who
love peace, and who prize our restaurant and its benefits. We
believe this can be a great encouragement for young Tibetan
Buddhists to begin to walk on the path of peaceful vegetarianism.
